And they glorified God because of me. - Galatians 1:24

This is a bold statement. Is there someone in your life, that you glorify God for? Not someone for whom you are thankful. Not someone who has been nice to you. Is there someone who the Lord placed in your life and as a result, your faith life has been deeper and fuller? So much so, that you praise and thank God for sending this person into your life?
Maybe you are more disciplined in your devotional life, as a result of your relationship. Or you understand God’s unconditional love better through them. Or you are more comfortable talking with other people about your faith. Whatever growth you have experienced in your Christian faith, there is likely someone who has been instrumental in walking along side you; being patient, teaching and most importantly modeling the life of faith. Have you told them specifically what they mean to you? Have you said that you thank and praise God because of them? Why not do it this week?
Paul writes that the churches to the north of Palestine, glorified God because of him, specifically because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which he preached to them on his first missionary journey. It is the most precious gift that we can give to another person…and it is totally free! If we give someone ten dollars so that they can get a meal, this surely is a loving and important work. But if we fail to share with them the reason for our action, the love of God in Christ Jesus, we have held back the most valuable gift we can give.
Which brings me to this question…is there anyone who glorifies God because of you? Not because you are a helpful or nice person. But because through their relationship with you, their faith is stronger. Or they better understand who Jesus is. Or they are more ready to become a part of the community who call themselves Christians. As we make our way in this world, we all need each other. This is a difficult journey at times, filled with many dangers. We are called to always be lifting each other up before God. So today, I glorify God because of you…each one of you who have been a part of the Body of Christ at Gracepoint. I have seen the Spirit move in you, even in the face of challenges. As those challenges arise, I have seen the Spirit provide creative solutions through you. God has revealed His glory to you through His Son Jesus Christ. And now, He has chosen to reveal His glory through you.
My true joy is in the realization that our time together in Gracepoint is only a small foretaste of the glory, which will be revealed to us when Christ returns.
